This fabulous collection relating to Vietnam’s ethnic minorities features well-presented tribal art, artefacts and everyday objects gathered from across the nation, and examples of traditional village houses. Displays are well labelled in Vietnamese, French and English. If you’re into anthropology, it’s well worth the approximately 200,000d each-way taxi fares to the Cau Giay district, about 7km from the city centre, where the museum is located.
Local bus 14 (4000d) departs from P Dinh Tien Hoang on the east side of Hoan Kiem Lake and passes within a couple of blocks (around 600m) of the museum – get off at the Nghia Tan bus stop and head to Ð Nguyen Van Huyen.
Really interesting museum about the ethnic groups in Vietnam that you rarely (if ever) hear about. Learned a lot here! Worth a visit if you're in the area. Entrance fee is 20,000 dong per person.
A great place to learn about Vietnam's diverse cultures. A hike from the Old Quarter so take a taxi (Mai Linh have meters and are reasonable). Entry is 40,000VND & taxi will be between 60&90,000VND.
Very interesting museum where you can easily spent a whole afternoon. We went there during the last Tet weekend where they had a great extra program. Defo worth a visit!

It's one of those things which you simply must see when you're in Hanoi. It's very well curated and the exhibitions on the outside are lovely to see.
Nice museum. The backyard is really good, you can visit the real houses. But the explanation inside are a little bit poor, no date.
English and French speaking guides available for couples and groups. Separate larger group tours also available.
Really interesting when visiting the colorful features of the 54 ethnic groups of Viet Nam in the Ethnology Museum.
Very well documented museum about the different inhabitants of Vietnam. Go here to learn before going to the north! Worth the visit!!
An interesting place to learn about Vietnam's 54 ethnic minority groups. Don't miss the reconstruction of their unique old houses.
