With just five luxurious cabins, the Violet gives visitors an exclusive look at the wonders of Halong Bay. In this small yet luxurious craft, visitors can appreciate the bay’s massive scale, the boat’s red sails dwarfed by the bay’s towering limestone islands.
Built to resemble a traditional Asian junk, the wood-clad Violet features gleaming wooden floors, opulent silks and velvets, and cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking views. Guests will find all the amenities they would expect in a larger vessel, including a gym and sauna, a spa with unrivaled views, a restaurant and a lounge, and a rooftop sundeck. For an intimate experience of Halong Bay, there is nothing to compare to the Violet.

Spent a night on Halong Bay on the Violet. It was supposed to be launched in November 2009 but it aint holding up too well! Very tired and in need of repair. A fairly expensive experience at around $500US a night. It amazes me that there is no hot water on the boat during summer yet they have a spa in the bathroom! The food was just OK with possibly the worst pastries I've ever had for "pre breakfast". They must microwave them - absolutely horrible....
This was something I was really looking forward to as all the pictures you see show something very special. It did not disappoint me. However, and it is a big however, it is absolutely filthy. The amount of rubbish that was floating in the bays is astounding. This was a shock to all of us travelling as a group as we could not believe how bad it is. There is also no sea birds and I don't know if that is because of the pollution or the tourists are disturbing them. Goodness knows if there are any fish there. I think that they need to do something very very soon or it is going to seriously affect the tourism to this area. It is so lovely so please do something.
